Alejandro Betancourt is a name that resonates within the

Dr. Betancourt’s journey in the medical field began in 1997
when he graduated from the Ponce School of Medicine in Puerto Rico. He then
completed his internship and residency at the University of Puerto Rico, School
of Medicine. With a passion for neurology, Dr. Betancourt purs ued further
specialization and became board certified in Neurological Surgery. In 2015, he
achieved re-certification, a testament to his unwavering dedication to
excellence in his field. 

As the founder of Harlingen Spine & Neurosurgical
Institute, Dr. Betancourt offers a wide range of surgical procedures for
conditions involving the brain and spine. From cranial trauma and hydrocephalus
to complex spine surgeries, such as spinal fusion and kyphoplasty, his
expertise covers a broad spectrum of neurological conditions. He is also
renowned for his use of Laser Ablation in treating brain tumors, making him one
of the few neurosurgeons in Texas to employ this advanced technique. 

Dr. Betancourt’s commitment to his patients goes beyond

of Neurological Surgeons.
