Chris Hemsworth, the star of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Thor movies, and Taika Waititi, the director of its final entry, have spoken up about wanting to give the character a fourth movie and apparently have some ideas of how they should do it.
While the first two movies were considered middling entries into the franchise, Thor: Ragnarok has quickly become one of the highest-rated superhero films of all time and second in the MCU. It also made an astounding $850.37 million, hundreds of millions more than the previous two films.
Though Marvel generally stops each mini-series at three films, those results have made some fans wonder if there could be a fourth adventure with the God of Thunder coming. And according to Waititi, he and Hemsworth were discussing that themselves over their New Year’s Eve festivities.
“We were throwing ideas around,” but added that, even more than wanting to make another Thor film, the pair just wanted another chance to work together. “That was one of the most enjoyable creative partnerships I’ve ever had.”
When asked about the chances of this actually happening, however, Hemsworth says that it largely depends on what happens to the character in the upcoming movies, Avengers: Infinity War and its sequel, which is so far unnamed.
“I finished shooting and now they are going to edit it and see how the stories play out. There are so many interwoven scenes and stories and characters,” he said.
