Seth Meyers Writer Amber Ruffin Reviews Black Panther

If there’s one thing that Seth Meyers is known for, it’s giving his amazing writers a chance to shine onstage. On a recent episode of his show, Meyers gave his writer Amber Ruffin the floor to talk about the hit sensation Black Panther. It’s not surprising to see how Ruffin would be so excited to talk about the movie. After all, Black Panther has been seen as a trailblazing film—and Ruffin is a trailblazer in her own right.

As the first black female writer for a late-night show in the U.S., Ruffin possesses a unique voice—and she’s also very funny. Hailing from Omaha, Nebraska, Ruffin started working on Meyers’ show about four years ago. And her review of the mega-hit movie was definitely entertaining. Stepping on stage, Ruffin surprised Seth by saying that she was not a fan of the film—because she had acted in the film and been cut from it. The interview then cuts to a scene of Ruffin in full Wakandan dress. However, it quickly becomes obvious that the scene is a hilarious spoof. Ruffin complains about her rhinoceros while giving attitude to one of the elders in the council. She even pitches the idea of a water park to Chadwick Boseman’s character.

However, at the end of the interview, Ruffin admits that she loves the movie and has seen it four times. “Wakanda Forever!” she smiles as she exits the stage.
