Stephen Colbert made introductions to two celebrities who have been itching to be BFFs for some time. On Wednesday night’s episode of The Late Show, he made dreams come true for two of his guests, Reese Witherspoon and Adam Rippon.
Actress Reese Witherspoon has been an admirer of figure skater Adam ‘Ripp’ Rippon since watching the recent 2018 Winter Olympics, during which he won a bronze medal. The athlete has been a huge Witherspoon fan ever since he first saw her in Legally Blonde. After communicating only through social media, these gushing besties to be finally met face to face on live television.
Witherspoon had tweeted that Adam Rippon was the number one reason to watch the Winter Olympics. Rippon also took to Twitter to reply with a movie idea, suggesting to Reese that “You (played by you) tweet me in the middle of the night at the Olympics and I (played by me) die immediately. ”
The two hit it off just as well in person. They greeted one another with a hug, and Reese told Adam that he was even more handsome in person than on the ice. During Colbert’s interview, they held hands. Witherspoon commented that “This is meant to be … a relationship the world has been waiting for.”
Reese Witherspoon stars in the newly released A Wrinkle In Time alongside Oprah Winfrey and Mindy Kaling. Adam Rippon is currently on a press tour after winning his bronze medal in the 2018 Winter Olympics for the figure skating team event.
