Father of modern Marvel comics, and the enormously successful Marvel movie franchise, Stan Lee, was recently rushed to the ER with shortness of breath and an irregular heartbeat. He was admitted to the Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles. Stan, being a hero to fans, young and old, and an influential public figure, was the focus of alarmed Marvel fans around the globe during his hospital stay. Much to the relief of fans, in recent headlines, Stan’s condition seems to show improvement, and there are high hopes that this was a minor incident. He has intentions of being able to attend scheduled comic convention appearances through out the year.
Marvel comics has been in the business of creating inspiring stories of heroes such as Captain America, Spider, and X-men, since 1939. In the wake of World War II, in a harsh and uncertain time, many new fans found comfort and hope in the stories written in the comic books. Since then, Marvel has successfully published and estimated 32,000 comics, and fan groups have spanned across multiple countries, and generations.
Stan’s success, and creative spirit has been an inspiration to so many, both young and old. And in the news of this incident it can be hard to avoid the thought of the unavoidable growing older phase of life. Growing older is unavoidable, and downward spiraling health can be uncontrollable. But during this time, fans of the legend, that is Stand Lee, grip tight to his work. For the time, spirits are up and good news from the doctors shows that Stan is doing well, and that this was only a minor incident.
