John Lithgow joins the cast of Pet Sematary Remake

A remake of Stephen King’s Pet Sematary is edging closer to production, and a new name was announced as part of the film. John Lithgow, who played Arthur Mitchell in Showtime’s Dexter, has been announced as a member of the cast in the new Pet Sematary movie.

The original story, by Stephen King, was first published in 1983. The story was then adapted to the big screen starring Dale Midkiss. He portrayed a doctor, who after near death experiences, moves his family to Maine, where a lot of Stephen King’s stories take place. The narrative of the story revolves around a graveyard that resurrects animals, turning them into undead, zombie-like creatures.

Stephen King movie adaptations are arguably more popular now than ever, with IT being remade for modern audiences and several of his stories being adapted into Netflix originals.

John Lithgow will be taking on the role of Jud Crandall, the neighbor of the protagonists of the story, which was portrayed by Fred Gwynne in the original movie adaptation.

John Lithgow’s resume consists of films such as Twilight Zone: The Movie, The Manhattan Project, and Harry and the Hendersons. On the small screen, John Lithgow has appeared in the televisions shows 30 Rock, How I Met Your Mother, and Drunk History. He has hosted Saturday Night Live a total of three times.
