Avengers: Infinity War is on Track to Make One Billion Dollars

Disney hit gold when they purchased the rights to Marvel’s line up of superheroes. The newest installment of the Disney/Marvel collaborative effort is Avengers: Infinity War, and it has tied Star Wars: The Force Awakens as the fastest movie to hit the $300 million mark.

If #300 million sounds like a lot of money, wait until you hear the latest number: $800 million. The newest Marvel movie hit #300 million in only five days, but box office experts are predicting that number to rise well above $1 billion before the Avengers: Infinity War is out of theaters. The experts are saying that the movie will hit that one billion dollar mark by the 10th or 11th, which will break Star War’s previous record of $1 billion dollar in box office sales in 12 days.

To put these numbers in perspective, Deadpool made a total of $783 million during its entire time in theaters. Guardians of the Galaxy made $773 million. The Amazing Spider-Man made $758 millions. DC Comic’s Suicide Squad made $747 million.

Avengers: Infinity War has been able to see large profits like these despite the movie not even being available in China yet. China is the most populated country in the world, and once Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters in China, the sales figures for the movie could skyrocket.

If you are a comic book fan, now is a great time to be alive. Superhero themed movies are undoubtedly the most popular genre on the silver screen right now. With the success of Avengers: Infinity War, it doesn’t look like Hollywood will slow down on flooding the market with great super hero movies anytime soon.

Robert Downey Jr. Discusses Favorite “Infinity War” Scene

As the hype for Avengers: Infinity War continues to build, Robert Downey Jr. took some time to discuss his favorite scene from the movie.

Surprisingly, it’s not one of his own, according to an interview that the actor (who plays Tony Stark/Iron Man) gave with the Toronto Star.

“My favorite shot in the movie has already been seen, and it’s when Thor, who’s just totally gnarled up, turns and goes, ‘Who the hell are you guys?’ and you cut to the Guardians [of the Galaxy],” he said. “I’m like, sold. If the whole third movie was that scene, we’re fine.”

This is, indeed, a momentous scene, because up until now the Guardians of the Galaxy films have been almost completely separate from the main events of the Marvel Cinematic Universe—as disparate as they are, all of the other established heroes (from the movies, at least) have either met each other or are at least “a friend of a friend.” Having the franchise’s other major superhero team finally team up with the Avengers (both post-CiviL War halves of them) will be an important milestone in the franchise.

Indeed, Avengers: Infinity War is set to have something like 80 characters, which include basically every superhero and nearly every major, living person in the MCU. It will take some real talent to give them all a moment in this packed production, but we can be sure that Iron Man is going to be one of the major stars: he was not only the franchise’s first protagonist but has only grown in importance since, and after this and the untitled fourth Avengers film he will presumably be retiring from these films.

All said, this movie will surely have many memorable moments for MCU fans, but it is interest to hear what one of the stars thinks was the best.
