Susan McGalla is the former president of a nationally recognized retail clothing chain; American Eagle Outfitters Incorporated. She is also the former chief executive officer of another nationally recognized retail store; Wet Seal Inc. She is a former trustee of the University of Pittsburgh and is a executive consultant from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Susan grew up with her two older brothers in East Liverpool, Ohio. She is the daughter of a local foodball coach and the wife of a wealth manager. Susan received her bachelor’s degree in business and marketing from Mount Union College. She currently serves on the board of advisors for Mount Union College.
Susan feels that growing up with brothers and a father who was a coach enabled her to not view her gender as a hinderance. She has been employed in predominantly male roles and excelled. Her abilty to see people for their qualifications rather then their gender has made her a sought after businesswoman. Her hard working nature enabled her to be promoted to leadership positions that influenced sales while she was employed with American Eagle. Susan had various management roles within American Eagle Outfitters. She was initially hired as the divisional merchandise purchaser for women’s clothing then she held the position of Chief Merchandising Officer for the entire company and was personally responsible for overseeing the launch of Aerie and 77kids brand clothing.
In 2009 Susan left American Eagle Outfitters to become a private consultant in retail and investment industries. In 2012 Susan McGalla founded P3 Executive Consulting. The Pittsburgh Steelers have hired her as their V.P of business strategy.
